A Win for Gate Canyon in the Current Utah State Legislative Session

At the 11th hour during the February 28th session of the Utah House Revenue and Taxation Committee, Senator Winterson removed language from Senate Bill 107, which earmarked 20 million dollars for Gate Canyon road improvements.

Nine Mile Canyon Coalition Chair, Mike Hansen, has spent numerous house up at the Utah State Capitol lately, testifying against Senate Bill 107 in front of both the Utah Senate and House of Representatives.

This removal of funds suggests that the hydrocarbon highway planned for Gate Canyon and Nine Mile Canyon may not come to fruition. While this is a momentary victory, the Coalition and others will continue to advocate for Nine Mile Canyon and its surrounding landscape.
